There’s a version of healing we like to show people.
The breakthroughs. The strength. The moment you realize how far you’ve come through therapy.
But therapy doesn’t always look like that.
Sometimes therapy means walking into a room feeling okay and walking out completely drained. Sometimes it means talking about things you’ve spent years learning how not to think about. And sometimes it means sitting in your car afterward trying to pull yourself back together before you can move on with the rest of your day.
That’s what this episode of Crowning My Courage is about.

I recorded before therapy, when I was feeling pretty good, and again afterward. The difference is real. I could have waited until I felt better, fixed myself up and recorded something more polished.
But that would have missed the whole point.
Healing isn’t always pretty. It isn’t a straight line, and doing the work doesn’t mean every therapy session leaves you feeling lighter.
Sometimes doing the work hurts.
I spent a lot of my life learning how to survive the things that happened to me. Now I’m pushing to fully heal from them. Those are two very different things.
So if you’ve ever left therapy exhausted, emotional, angry, numb, or wondering why something that is supposed to help can feel so hard — you’re not alone in that experience.
There is courage in showing up.
There is courage in doing the work.
And even on the days when it doesn’t feel like it, healing is happening.
We become the strongest when we accept our vulnerability and realize we don’t have to go it alone. Let’s Crown our Courage together.
From the scars on my arms to the crown on my head — turning a lifetime of trauma into service.
